I went for a ride today with a plan to head out along Dog Trap Rd to Yass, then loop back home via Yass River Rd. Local flooding required a detour along the way, but I generally stuck to the planned route.
My first turn-off was onto Rolfe Rd, as maps indicated it would connect to Kaveneys Rd. However, I quickly discovered that it didn’t. The owners of Bedulluck have clearly had plenty of visitors misdirected by Google Maps, as they’ve posted a sign saying the map is wrong. So, I backtracked to the Barton Highway and took Kaveneys Rd instead. From Kaveneys, I continued onto Dog Trap Rd until I reached Yass Valley Way, where I turned onto Yass River Rd. Along this road, I stopped to check out St. Mary’s Anglican Church (1911) and Mundoon Wesleyan Chapel (1862). Mundoon appears to be used less often than St. Mary’s, though the grounds seem to be maintained now and then. After Mundoon, I was supposed to turn down Greenwood Rd to cross the Yass River, but flooding had covered the causeway. I snapped a photo, then continued along Yass River Rd, eventually detouring onto Back Creek Rd, which led me to Gundaroo Rd and then onto Murrumbateman Rd. Turning onto Tallagandra Ln, I was back on my original route and crossed another flooded causeway before continuing onto Mulligans Flat Rd. From there, it was just a short ride home to Harrison.
