Today, Rebekah and I hiked up Mt Taylor. It was a good little test to see how my legs were feeling after yesterday’s ride. Overall, they held up pretty well, although my knees were a bit out of sorts. With a few stops to take in the views — and, let’s be honest, to catch our breath — we eventually made it to the top.
We realised it might have been close to 13 years since we last tackled this track. Although the weather threatened rain, it held off, and the temperature was surprisingly warm for this time of year. Typically, by ANZAC Day, the heaters are coming on in the ACT as the cold sets in. It seems the meteorologists were right about predicting a warm winter — or perhaps climate change is lending a hand in keeping the temperatures up.

Today, in what turned out to be the worst weather of the week, I led a team-building walk through Namadgi National Park.
Despite the conditions, we took on the Settler’s Track—a loop that showcases three historic huts: Brayshaws, Waterhole, and Westermans. The wild weather added a rugged charm to the experience, and the team powered through with good spirits. A proper taste of the high country and a great way to connect outside the usual work setting. Walk map. Rebekah and I went for a short walk up to Booroomba Rocks in Namadgi National Park. I have wanted to do this for a while, but has been pushed forward on my bucket list of things I want to do before I leave Canberra.
After visiting Booroomba Rocks, we ventured up to the old Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station site. Namadgi National Park is in the south-west of the Australian Capital Territory, bordering Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales. It lies approximately 40 kilometres south-West of Canberra, and makes up approximately 46% of the ACT's land area. |
