The Powerline and Webbs Ridge Trail

17/2/2024

Today, I went for a ride to Flea Creek with Eran Av, and it turned out to be an eventful journey. We discovered that the route we took to cross the Murrumbidgee actually went through a private road—an unplanned error!
Eran had mapped out a more technical route to Flea Creek, which took us up into the Brindabellas along Two Sticks Rd before heading down the Powerline trail. This trail features steep descents and switchbacks down into the valley and equally steep climbs and switchbacks back up the other side to reach Webbs Ridge trail. Webbs Ridge is a more challenging and technical descent to Flea Creek compared to the alternative Gentle Annie trail. Somehow, I managed to navigate both the Powerline and Webbs Ridge trails without a single crash.
When we reached Flea Creek, we took a break in the Day Use Area by the Goodradigbee River, where we had lunch and enjoyed the scenery.
After lunch, we left Flea Creek via the Gentle Annie trail. Once we reached the top, we turned onto Brindabella Rd and followed it back to the Ampol Service Station in Weston.
So far, this has been the most technical ride I’ve tackled, and it was a fantastic adventure!

Mt Coree, Post Hand Surgery

9/2/2024

I recently had surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome on my right hand, and today is my last day of sick leave. My stitches are scheduled to come out on Monday.
Today felt like as good a day as any to test out my hand and see if the surgery has done its job. I’m happy to report that it’s worked quite well—I still can’t grip small items like a knife comfortably, but I can handle the throttle on my bike.
I decided to ride up to Mt. Coree, a trail I’ve driven once years ago but never tackled on a motorbike. It’s the steepest trail I’ve ridden so far. I misjudged one corner and ended up on a slight embankment, but otherwise, everything went smoothly.
The Brindabellas were as busy as Pitt St for adventure bikes, and I shared the summit with some of the ACT Adventure Riders. Then, as I reached the bottom, I ran into even more of them.
